We spent the weekend at Oak Grove Park in Hawarden, Iowa with my dad's side of the family for the Breuer family camping weekend. This was the second year that we did this, and my whole family had a great time, just like last year. There's a lot of visiting, eating, and laughing. There are seven siblings in my dad's family, so over the weekend, different people are coming and going, depending on their summer schedules. But it is so much fun to see cousins that I've missed at the last Christmas party because I was working, or the last Thanksgiving because we were with Matt's family. It was pretty warm, but we kept the kids (and adults) cooled off with water guns and water balloons.
We did take a break from the heat one night in the lodge.
Of course there were smores for dessert on Saturday night.
The kids spent a lot of time blowing bubbles thanks to Aunt Marlene's large stash of bubble solution and amazing bubble blowers.
And the kids finished each night by catching fireflies. The fireflies in Iowa are spectacular. It's like seeing the stars in the grass.
